Texas Paralegal Day

October 23, 2014

HAPPY TEXAS PARALEGAL DAY!

We want to recognize and show appreciation to all of our paralegals on this special day.

Interesting fact: The State Bar of Texas was actually the first bar association in the United States to create a separate division for paralegals. On October 23, 1981, the State Bar of Texas created “The Legal Assistants Division” which was the beginning of the creation of Paralegal Day. Paralegals were becoming more of an important entity in the industry, however, and thought they deserved a division of their own. The Division approached the Texas Legislature in 2005 to request a change in the name to Texas Paralegal Day. On April 15, 2005, The Texas House Resolution was signed by the Speaker of the House, Representative Tom Craddick, declaring that October 23rd be declared Texas Paralegal Day. Paralegals across Texas celebrate this day in recognition and honor of their profession.
